Head into the Jacobson Ford Showroom in Revelstoke and you’ll find a brand new 2018 Ford F150 pick up truck partially filled with cat food, dog food, and blankets. Why? It’s the new Fill a Truck for Humanity event.
“I met with Dan Berg at Jacobson Ford in regards to an art fundraiser for the Revelstoke and District Humane Society (RDHS) and Dan suggested the truck idea,” says Pauline Hunter of the RDHS. “The RDHS thought it was great.”
For Berg, the General Manager for Jacobson Ford Revelstoke, reaching out to RDHS was a no brainer. “I love animals, I like them more than people,” Berg laughs. “My animals are my family. I have two hairless cats, one is named Harry, and a golden doodle.” In an effort to spark interest in the fundraiser, Berg went to Costco and bought a the first of the donations.
RDHS is happy to have the fundraiser underway, as prepping for the inevitable snow melt is a necessity.
“When spring arrives and people leave after the ski season we often have an influx of abandoned cats,” says Hunter.
The event has no fixed timeline. “I’ll keep the truck here until it trickles out,” says Berg.
