The Knights of Columbus, the world’s largest Catholic fraternal service organization, has 60 local members. One of the groups main principles is charitable giving.
“Each year we have participated in selling tickets in conjunction with the Knights of Columbus (BC) Charity Foundation. This gives us access to much larger prizes than we could offer on our own,” explains Norm Langlois of Revelstoke’s Knights of Columbus. “Proceeds of the tickets we sell are returned to us for distribution.”
In the past the Knights of Columbus have donated to various Revelstoke groups including the Revelstoke Cancer Support Group, Revelstoke Women’s Shelter, Revelstoke Senior Drive program which transports seniors to out of town medical appointments, Revelstoke Community Band, Revelstoke Minor Hockey, Revelstoke Food Bank, and the High School Bursary. This years distribution has not been allocated yet.
The raffle tickets were sold by the Knights of Columbus from September 2018 to February 2019 with winner selected by random drawling from the tickets sold.
This year, Sheryl Wolgram was one of the lucky early bird winners. She was presented with a cheque for one thousand dollars by Deputy Grand night Paul Suraci.
