Annie Henrietta Keating passed away at Mount Cartier Court on Monday, July 27 th , 2020 at the age of 85 years.
Annie was born in Liverpool, UK on August 20, 1934 to William and Ruby Sullivan. At the start of the Second World War Annie was evacuated to a town in the countryside away from the threat of bombing attacks. She was taken in by John and Elizabeth Hatton and raised with their six children. Following the end of the war Annie attempted a return to her family in Liverpool but shortly after was officially adopted by John and Elizabeth and took on the Hatton name.
Her college course was cut short after the death of John Hatton and Annie returned home to help support the family. She worked as a shop assistant/window dresser in a local department store. Later Annie gained a position as a live-in cook/housekeeper for a Doctor’s family in Birmingham. In 1958 she took a job as a cook for a private school. It was there that Annie met and then married Jim Keating in March 1961. In May of that year Jim and Annie moved to Canada and settled in Toronto. Annie continued her skills working as a cook on a local farm. Their daughter Karen was born in April, 1962.
In 2010 Annie moved to Revelstoke to be closer to her daughter Karen. She has spent the past two years living in Mount Cartier Court amongst newly acquired friends. Annie was predeceased by her parents, siblings and daughter Karen. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews in England.
