Mario Scarcella died suddenly at Shuswap Lake General Hospital, Salmon Arm on Thursday, August 13 th , 2020 at the age of 80 years. Prayers were recited from St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 18 th followed by the Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, August 19 th with Father Luan Vu celebrant. Pallbearers were Robert Palumbo, Vince Palumbo, Eric Scarcella and Jeremy Scarcella. Cremation followed with interment of Mario’s cremated remains in the family plot of Mountain View Cemetery, Revelstoke.
Mario was born on April 16, 1940 in Spezzano, Piccolo, Italy and had been a resident of Revelstoke since 1953. Mario’s occupation for many years was in an administrative position with C.P. Rail. He enjoyed soccer, golf, biking, jogging and gardening. Mario loved playing cards and Bocce. He taught Italian lessons as well as teaching English to Italians. He helped many local people by writing, notarizing and translating documents.
Mario was predeceased by his daughter Mary Rose in 1989, father Francesco in 1992, mother Maria in 2012 and his brother Joe in 2000. He is survived by his wife Luisa of Revelstoke; son Gary of Revelstoke; brother Tony (Irene) Scarcella of West Kelowna; sister Olga (Biagio) Palumbo of Revelstoke; sister-in-law Barbara Scarcella of Vernon;
numerous nieces and nephews and extended family in Italy.
