Obituary Notice – Matthew Bjorge

With heaviest of hearts we announce the death of Matthew Paul Bjorge. We are devastated by the loss of our beloved Matthew on Tuesday, April 7, 2020. He left this world with his mom and sister by his side and his family holding him in love and prayer and being beside him as much as possible. Matthew battled lymphoma and numerous medical issues until he didn’t have the strength to battle any longer and went home to the arms of His loving Father in heaven. No doubt his earthly father and his gramma came to escort him.

Matthew was born in Langley, B.C. on December 19, 1984 into a family that adored him from the very beginning. He spent most of his years in Revelstoke. Matthew attended Mount Begbie School and RSS. He was blessed with many good lifelong friends. More than anything, Matthew loved his family. He was always available to them for anything and everything at any time. Matthew loved wrestling and attending matches with his brother. He cooked dinners for his mom often and they enjoyed going out together for lunches once or twice a week. Matthew and his mom spoke numerous times a day. He was truly her baby boy and she loved him wholly with her heart. Matthew spent many hours together with his sister Bethany, enjoying one another’s company. He didn’t get to see Amber and Melissa often because they lived so far away, but he truly loved them with all his heart. Matthew had a wonderful heart, a great sense of humor and was the life of the party; always having everyone in laughter over his stories. This life was hard for him in many ways and he battled many demons, but he was a warrior! Matthew leaves behind his mom, Barbara Bjorge; his brother Dan (Sherry) Duke; his sisters Amber (Catherine) Duke; Bethany Caponero and Melissa Duke as well as his chosen adopted dad Llewelyn Duke. He was especially close to his nieces and nephews; Kelsey, Keira, Kalex and Kassidy Aarts; Angela and Kalei Duke, Justin Smith, Magan and Brittany Duke, Aaron Duke and Brendan Wallin. Matthew leaves many special friends that enriched his life.

Matthew’s family would like to thank Dr. Johnson and the on-call Doctors and Nurses at Queen Victoria Hospital and all the Doctors and Nurses that were so caring at Vernon Jubilee Hospital. Thank you especially to Iris who shared this journey and made it easier for us and Marissa and Lucy who went above and beyond in caring not only for Matthew but also those family members experiencing excruciating heartache. Matthew you were our heart and Our joy! We miss you so much and only continue because of the knowledge that we will one day see you again!!
