Norvel “George” Atchison passed away at Vernon Jubilee Hospital on Thursday, August 22 nd , 2019 at the age of 87 years. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 14 th , 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at #7 – 11497 Smith Crescent, Vernon, B.C. – 11 kilometres down Westside Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Branch #46, Royal Canadian Legion, Revelstoke, in memory of George.
George was born in the Rural Municipality of Bellsite, Manitoba on July 8, 1932 and moved to Revelstoke in 1973. Three years ago, George and Elaine moved to their new cabin on Okanagan Lake in Vernon. George was a long-time active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, having served with the Canadian Forces for 25 years.
He enjoyed playing bingo, solo and crib. George especially loved being at the lake. George was predeceased by his brothers Duke (Donald), Chum (Doug) and Bill; his sister Eileen and his lifetime friend Don McDonald. He is survived by his wife Elaine of Vernon; four children: Lila (Gord) of Revelstoke, Sherrill of Kelowna; Doug (Rhonda) and Wes (Jayne), all of Revelstoke; three grandchildren: Andrew Atchison (Stephanie Kincaid) of Revelstoke, Meaghan Atchison (Jason Jones) of Revelstoke and Ashley Atchison (Stephanie) of Calgary; two sisters: Inez (Terry) Mitchell of Winnipeg and Olive Seale of Dauphin, Manitoba; two brothers: Dale (Barb) Atchison and Gerry (Barb) Atchison, all of The Pas, Manitoba, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
