Sophie Mary Salva (Saviki) passed away peacefully on May 14, 2020. She was born in Calgary, Alberta on May 4 th , 1932. She was predeceased in the 1960’s by her parents Michael and Julia Saviki, her husband Paul in 2011 and their only daughter Carolyn (Lyn) in 2018, who had resided in Ontario for many years.
Sophie is survived by her son-in-law Paul Avon of Ontario, her sister-in-law Margaret Warner and nephew Gordon Warner of Kamloops. Also survived by cousin Paul Sawicki and family of Toronto, Ontario and numerous cousins of Paul’s Kondi side of the family and her very good friend Beverly Jean Owen, who has been like a second daughter.
Sophie moved from Golden, B.C. to Revelstoke in 1944 and completed High School here, graduating in 1949, working at the Bank of Commerce for a year and married Paul in 1950. They spent one year in Smithers where Paul did his first year of teaching. They moved back to Revelstoke in 1951 where Carolyn was born and Sophie continued studying and obtained her Certified General Accountant’s designation and worked in the accounting field until retiring in 1991. She was a life member of the Revelstoke Golf Club after serving as treasurer for 11 years.
With Paul retiring in 1986 and Sophie in 1991, they enjoyed travelling with wonderful trips to the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia and many tours of the U.S.
There will be no service at Sophie’s request and in remembrance, if you wish, you may donate to the charity of your choice.
Cremation arrangements are in the care of Brandon Bowers Funeral Home, Revelstoke.
