Sydney Thompson left this world on January 3, 2020 at the age of 65. It is with great happiness and relief for her, but with sadness for her friends and family that we have to say goodbye to a wonderful woman.
Syd was predeceased by her mother Mary Thompson in 2014. She will forever be remembered by her loving sister Peg (Michael) Jones of Victoria, cousins and many friends.
Sydney was raised in Revelstoke, lived for a time during her teens in Prince George, returning to live and work in Revelstoke before leaving for Vancouver. After Sydney was diagnosed with MS she returned to Revelstoke where she has remained for the past 22 years.
Sydney loved her dog Osa, and wherever you saw Syd, Osa was with her, until Osa’s passing in 2016.
Her sense of humour had no bounds and she has always brought laughter and joy to those who knew and loved her. While she was still able, she was an avid reader and always a lover of music and movies. She lived life on her terms, even through the stages of MS as it took away her physical abilities. Syd never lost control of what she wanted and how she chose to live and did so right to the very end.
We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all who have supported and enhanced Syd’s quality of life over the years. Those who were with her to the very end, her friend and advisor Maria Stagliano, friends and caregivers Barb Bjorge and Angie Threatful, her physician, Dr. Kate McCarroll, nurse practitioner Ann-Marie Gill, all the staff at the Cottages and all the caregivers throughout the years.
A Funeral Service will be held at a later date. This will be announced in the local paper and shared with other local friends who will spread the word as well.
