The first of the seasons fruit trees are ready to be harvested, and Revelstoke Bear Aware is ready. On Wednesday, July 3, the Gleaners, a group of volunteers who aid Bear Aware in clearing unpicked fruit, will be meeting to take on three cherry trees.
Gleaners bring their own ladders and buckets. The Gleaning Project is a zero waste project. The fruit that volunteers do not take home goes to the Revelstoke Food Bank and the Food Recovery Program and rotten fruit is delivered to local pig farmers.
Anyone interested in becoming a gleaner, or has a tree in need to gleaning, is welcome to email gleaning@revelstokebearaware.
