The snow is falling and the Christmas carols are ready. Tonight and tomorrow evening, head down to the Revelstoke Performing Arts Centre and get into the Christmas spirit with the Revelstoke Community Choir and their Concert of Peace.
A performance of this caliber takes time. The Choir has been rehearsing since mid September.
“We meet weekly as a choir for two hours, but there’s also been three or four sectionals for several sections as well,” says Revelstoke Community Choir member Lida Carey.
By giving themselves the time to get it right, the performance boasts a wide variety of genres and styles.
“There is something for everyone,” enthuses Carey.
Choir member Stacie Byrne agrees.
“Some songs are sung beautifully with harmonies and delicacy, others will make people laugh and clap along, and others have solos that highlight the amazing talent we have,” says Byrne.
A personal highlight for Carey is the performance with the Revelstoke Children’s Choir.
“I absolutely love it,” she says. “I first heard that song about 30 years ago and it’s been a favourite ever since. There is a piano duet that Gaila directed that is very epic.”
Shows days are December 8th and 9th. Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for children under twelve. Doors open at 6:30 pm and the show starts at 7:00 pm. Tickets available at the door or in advance at the Revelstoke Community Centre. For a peak at the choir hard at work rehearsing, check out the below videos.
