On Tuesday September 24, 2019 at 5:00 PM Revelstoke RCMP responded to a semi-tractor trailer unit on fire, approximately 10 Kilometres west of Revelstoke, BC on the Trans-Canada Highway.
Fortunately no one was injured and the cause of the fire has yet to be determined. Although the driver did indicate that while travelling westbound, he applied his brakes and observed fire coming from the rear passenger side tires.
The load consisted of mechanical parts on wooden pallets. The timely rainfall helped extinguish the fire.
The highway was closed for approximately thirty minutes and re-opened with alternating traffic. The highway is now opened in both directions.
