Press Release
The gins, which rolled out over the holiday season last month, are inspired by the American Prohibition Era when bathtubs were used to steep alcohol with various botanicals. The eight flavours were created by carefully crafting a blend of traditional botanicals with high-quality Oteas ingredients.
“We were very excited to be able to partner with a company making such incredible products as Oteas,” said Jones Distilling owner Gareth Jones. “Since our spirits are made with 100% green energy and Oteas is committed to being environmentally friendly with plastic-free packaging and biodegradable tea bags, we felt that our values aligned.”
“We’ve combined our expertise with theirs to create something truly special and we’re really pleased with the results. The response we’ve gotten from the community has been overwhelmingly positive.”
The new gins have already been met with great interest and enthusiasm by bars, restaurants, liquor stores and the general public. The bathtub gin style taps into a growing trend of less traditional and more experimental gins as tastes move away from beer, wine and large commercial gin distillers to ‘new world’ style gins.
“We at Oteas are extremely proud to have been able to pair our beautiful tasting teas with Jones Distilling’s unique gin, creating a flavour, aroma and colour sensation that is great with tonic or soda water,” said Oteas owner David Evans.
2019 also marked the release of the distillery’s line of alcoholic cordials, the Revelstoke Collection. Sweet Spot, the summer version of the cordial, sold out in just a few weeks. The winter version, Go Big or Go Gnome, was named after Revelstoke Mountain Resort’s beloved snow reporter Gnorm and has been a hit with locals and visitors alike.
The new gins, along with the rest of the Jones Distilling line, are available for purchase in the distillery, online at jonesdistilling.com and in select independent liquor stores across the province.
