Local physician, Dr. Kirk McCarroll, Revelstoke, BC, was a recipient of an award by the Society of Rural Physicians of Canada (SRPC) 27th Annual Rural and Remote Medicine course. Dr. McCarroll was presented with the Rural Service Award in recognition of his many years of rural service on Friday April 5th in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
SRPC President Dr. Margaret Tromp and chair of the nominations and award committee Dr. Tom Smith-Windsor presented the awards.
The Society of Rural Physicians of Canada feels it is important to provide recognition to persons or organizations that have made a significant contribution to rural medicine in Canada.
The RURAL SERVICE AWARDS (RSA)
The Rural Service Award was introduced in 2002 to provide recognition for physicians who live in rural Canada and who have done solid work in rural communities over the years. The Rural Service Award is presented to physicians who have been members of the SRPC for the last 5 consecutive years and have served rural Canada for 10 years or more.
