Splash Park Construction Scheduled to Begin on May 6

Revelstoke, BC – The City of Revelstoke has released a press statement confirming thay Jake & Jay Construction Ltd. will begin construction on the long anticipated Farwell Splash Park on Monday, May 6th.

‘Construction is expected to last 10-12 weeks and will occur between the hours of 7:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday to Saturday. During the construction period, the entire park will be closed to ensure public safety,’ the statement notes.

Director of Parks, Recreation & Culture Laurie Donato said, “The Splash Pad is a welcome addition to the list of recreational facilities the City already provides. It provides a great option for children to stay active during hot summer days. We are pleased to working with a local contractor on this project”.

“Our volunteer committee is thrilled to see this project enter the construction phase to become a reality“, Pat McKee, Chair of the Farwell Splash Park Society said, “Our community and our donors support in raising these funds has been overwhelming and we are pleased that the contract has been awarded locally to Jake and Jay Construction. And we also are pleased to have done our part to bring outdoor water play back to Farwell Park”.

Mayor Gary Sulz stated “The splash pad is a testament to the meaning of community in Revelstoke. The volunteers and donors deserve accolades for making this project a reality. I look forward to the completion of this project which will be an asset to families residing in as well as visiting our community”.

The Splash Pad has been several years in the making, with numerous volunteers contributing countless hours towards fundraising, grant writing, and research. Congratulations to everyone involved. Farwell Park is sure to be a popular place to be this summer.
