STAFFING UPDATE

Building Services

Recruitment for two Building Inspector positions, including one for the Building Services Manager is ongoing.

Interviews have started for the Building Services Manager position.

The positions are advertised on CivicInfo BC to increase the reach of the job postings to those working in local government as well as on our website. Please feel free to share with anyone you think might be interested.
Bylaw Enforcement.

The part-time Bylaw Compliance Officer position has been filled. The incumbent will begin training in early July.

A full time Bylaw Compliance Officer posting was advertised in the local newspaper, through the Licence Inspectors and Bylaw Officers Association of BC (LIBOA) and through CivicInfo BC.

Engineering

Recruitment for a Director of Engineering and Public Works has started and will be completed through an external Executive Search Recruiting Company.

We have enlisted an outside Engineering firm for third party review on larger projects.

A full-time Engineering Clerk position was advertised internally this week with the potential to go external as early as next week.

City Wide

A call went out for casual clerks to work in a variety of departments to cover off summer holidays and provide support for extra workloads.

INTERIM BUILDING SERVICES SUPPORT

Bernie Zimmer, a Registered Building Official will be assisting the City with building services including reviewing 5 permits in the intake stage and completing inspections next week.

Building permit applications are being reviewed by a private consultant for building permit issuance. To date, the consultant has reviewed 14 permits, 13 of which are in the process of being issued. Any additional applications received will be forwarded to the consultant for building permit review next week.

An updated amendment to the Building Bylaw will be considered for Adoption on June 25th to give an option for registered professionals to provide a certificate for field review and compliance.

The process to use certificates for field review and compliance will be issued shortly by Development Services.
