Shelley Bird, a Fire Information Officer at Parks Canada, has released a statement regarding the burning of brush piles on the lower slopes of Mount Revelstoke, starting today, October 4th, 2018.
She notes that burning in Mount Revelstoke National Park is being conducted in collaboration with BC Wildfire Service. By actively burning brush piles in safe conditions, wildfire risk is mitigated and reduced in and around the City of Revelstoke.
Bird also notes that “due to significant rainfall and recent snow, the Parkway Bend Prescribed Fire will not be conducted this year.”
