Fatality on Revelstoke Highways December 16 2019

On Monday December 16, 2019 at 3:40 PM Revelstoke Fire and Rescue, BC Ambulance Service and Revelstoke Traffic Services and Revelstoke RCMP responded to a collision between a westbound Sedan and an eastbound Commercial Vehicle, approximately 18 Kilometres east of Revelstoke, BC on the Trans-Canada Highway.

Unfortunately the driver and lone occupant of the Sedan; a fifty-two year-old male from BC, succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the eastbound commercial vehicle was not injured.

Although Revelstoke RCMP are continuing to investigate to determine the cause of the crash, initial indication is the Sedan crossed the centre line, on a curve, on a two-way section of the highway.

Road and weather conditions at the time were described as: compact snow with flurries, with minimal visibility with a temperature of minus 3 degrees Celsius.

The highway was closed for approximately ten hours.

Revelstoke RCMP are currently reporting compact snow with flurries in the Revelstoke area and advise motorist to check www.drivebc.ca before travelling.
