A winter storm warning is in effect for the Trans-Canada Highway from Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass. Hazardous conditions are expected throughout the night and into Friday.
Weather.g.ca warns that a Pacific frontal system crossing BC will stall across the southern interior tonight. Snow at times heavy will persist through Friday. Snowfall amounts of 40 to 75 cm can be expected by Saturday afternoon.
Drivers can expect rapidly accumulating snow to make travel difficult. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
DriveBC agrees, with a travel advisory in effect between Eagle Pass and Rogers Pass. The site warns drivers to expect delays and possible closures. Webcams for the area show snow accumulating on the highway.
Planned avalanche control work will be taking place between Townley St and 14th St N for 142.5 km (Revelstoke to Golden) starting at 4:00 am PST on Friday, December 20.
If you do need to hit the road tomorrow, it might be favourable to bring extra food and warm gear in case on an unexpected highway stay.
