Dorothy Doreen “Dee” Chaddock
September 20, 1928 – April 6, 2019
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dorothy Doreen “Dee” Chaddock on April 5, 2019. Dee passed away at home in Salmon Arm, BC at the age of 90 years old.
Dee was born on September 20, 1928 in Armstrong, BC and was a resident of Revelstoke, BC for over 75 years. She fell in love and married Arnold Chaddock on November 20, 1947. A poet, genealogist, and documenter of family stories, Dee is remembered for her keen mind, sharp wit, and love for her family. She could always be found working in her office, or sitting at the kitchen table with a historical book and a cup of strawberry tea. Known as Grannie, never Grandma, she loved the colour blue, a slow waltz, sweet peas on her table, and a good game of cards with her family. Dee was sharp as a whip, and could recite the lyrics to any song or poem. A person of many talents, she designed the blueprints for both houses that her husband built, drafted legal documents, and was an active member of the Revelstoke Writers’ Group and the Revelstoke Genealogical Society. She was an extraordinary person and will be missed dearly.
Dee loved her family and was central in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She leaves behind the love of her life and husband of 71 years, Arnold Chaddock Sr. They were together until the end. Dee is survived by her two children Nola (Tony) Woodcock and Arne Jr. (Doris) Chaddock; her son-in-law Peter Babak; her eight grandchildren Jody (Faye) Babak, Scott Babak, Kelly Babak, Chelaine Woodcock (Rodney Clarke), Kristy Woodcock (Dan Smith), Addie Chaddock, AJ (Mindy) Chaddock, and Bryce Chaddock; 10 great grandchildren, and many dedicated nieces and nephews. She will be keenly missed by her best friends, Gerry Farren and Dan Smith, with whom she spent many happy times. She is predeceased by her beloved daughter, Lynne Babak, her mother and father Dorcas and George Weeks, her sister Frances (Doug) Parker, and her brother Kenneth Weeks.
he family would like to thank Dr. McLeod for his dedicated care over the years.
