Joseph Alexandre (Alex) Arcand passed away at Queen Victoria Hospital, Revelstoke on Tuesday, December 15 th , 2020 at the age of 82 years. There will be no formal funeral service by Alex’s own request. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Revelstoke Humane Society, P.O. Box 340, Revelstoke, B.C. V0E 2S0, or the charity of one’s choice, in memory of Alex.
Alex was born in Green Lake, Saskatchewan on July 26, 1938 and had been a resident of Revelstoke since 1967. He was a member of the D.O.K.K., Knights of Pythias and Nomads and enjoyed volunteering at the Thrift Store. Alex was a bowler in his younger years. He liked to go camping and taking Joan on the boat, however he wasn’t the fisherperson, that was Joan’s duty. Alex and Joan enjoyed travelling and he especially enjoyed helping others. He was known as “Mr. Fix-It” in his neighbourhood, always able to help others with their projects and he really enjoyed assisting neighbours with snowblowing in the winter and lawn cutting in the summer. Alex loved animals and always had a treat for the local dogs when he went for his walks. When he was working in the bush, he would give the first bite of his lunch to the birds, because as Alex said, “they needed to eat too.”
Alex was predeceased by his parents and siblings. He is survived by his wife Joan of Revelstoke; four children: Robert (Kelly) Ward of Fort McMurray, James Ward of Abbotsford, Joanne (Mike) Short of Revelstoke and Dwayne Arcand of Kelowna; grandchildren: Ashley, Andrew, Saphire, Gaige, Bobby, Brenden and Dylan; great grandchildren: Brianna, Caleb, Deacon, Emilyn, Paisley, Annabelle and Findley (on the way); grand dog “Princess Bailey”, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
