Margaret Gertrude Ireland passed away in Revelstoke on Wednesday, January 16 th, 2019 at the age of 91 years. There will be a Celebration of life service at the Revelstoke United Church on Saturday May 4 th , 2019; all are welcome.
Margaret was born in Merritt, B.C. on May 26, 1927 to John and Florence Jobling. After marrying Bob Ireland (Dispatcher with CP Rail “RTI”) in 1948 they moved to Spences Bridge to begin their life together. They moved with Bob’s work throughout the interior of B.C. until they settled in Penticton to raise their four children. In 1962 Margaret and Bob moved to Vancouver and it was here that she began work with the Canadian Cancer Institute. Margaret will be remembered as being a loving mother, grandmother and friend, embracing all that came into her life. She volunteered with Unicef, CGIT, the United Church Women, the United Church choir and participated in curling and golf. After moving back to Penticton in 1990 Margaret became active with the Penticton Curling Club, Summerland Golf Club, Penticton RV Club, the Community Concert Society and Soup-a-teria.
Margaret was predeceased by her parents, John and Florence Jobling as well as her sister Mary. She is survived by her husband of 70 years Bob Ireland of Revelstoke; son Jack (Paula) Ireland of Toronto; three daughters: Katherine (Drew) Parkhill of Revelstoke, Lorraine (David) Beruschi of Revelstoke and Coleene Ireland of Calgary; grandchildren Bob, Alexandra (Jeremy), Richard (Alda), Jack, Courtney (Brady), Kaitlyn (Tom), Ben, Cassidy, Garrett (Kate) and Connor and great grandchildren Koby, Mack, Hugo, Luca, Isabella and Roman.
