Melvin Edward Koski passed away peacefully at Mt. Cartier Court in Revelstoke on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at the age of 92 years. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Revelstoke Legion Lounge on Monday April 29 th , 2019 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of B.C., #300-828 West 8 th Ave, Vancouver, B.C., V5Z 1E2, in memory of Mel.
Melvin was born on August 18, 1926 in Shuswap, west of Chase, B.C. He was the youngest of five, born to Ahto and Hilma Koski. Melvin went to school in Canoe where he met Ruth Olund and they were married in 1953 in Revelstoke. Melvin started with the C.P.R. in 1943 as a wiper in Field. He worked in Nelson, Kamloops, Port Coquitlam and Revelstoke, retiring in 1985 while working the pushers in Rogers. Melvin and Ruth retired to Sicamous, where they loved to fish and camp. They especially enjoyed their time at Shelter Bay.
Melvin was predeceased by his wife Ruth; his brothers; John, Eric and Fred; sister Vivian and his partner Polly Alexander. He is survived by his son Ed (Shelley) Koski of Revelstoke; two daughters; Elaine (Jim) McGiven of Revelstoke and Janice (Wayne) Muir of Tappen; grandchildren Tom McGiven (Stephanie Reginato) of Nanaimo, Jennifer McGiven (Tyler Johnston) of Revelstoke, Brian (Amy) McGiven of Revelstoke, Karla Koski (Ryan Bragg) of Golden and David Koski (Tianna Smith) of Red Deer, Alberta; great grandchildren; Riley, Kristian and Peyton Hollingsworth of Revelstoke, Maizey, Jace and Winnie McGiven of Revelstoke, Arwyn McGiven of Nanaimo, Grayson Koski of Golden and Maya Koski of Red Deer and brother-in-law Henry (Laurie) Olund of Enderby, B.C.
