Roberta Louise Burling passed away at Queen Victoria Hospital in Revelstoke on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at the age of 69 years. There will be no formal service by Louise’s request. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Canadian Red Cross, Box 1411, Revelstoke, B.C., V0E 2S0. Donations should be designated for Revelstoke Health Equipment Loan Program.
Louise was born on July 2, 1950 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She and her husband, Jack Burling were attracted to the small town feel of Revelstoke and made it home in 1987.
Louise worked for a time in the travel agency and serving and finished her working career as a flagger for traffic control. In her retirement she devoted many hours volunteering over ten years for Revelstoke’s Red Cross Society. Louise enjoyedknitting, cross stitch, reading, gardening and her weekly Bingo outings. Her favorite pastime was being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Louise was predeceased by her husband Jack; her parents and her son Michael. She is survived by her son; Robert Robertson of Revelstoke, her daughter Kim (Louis) Robertson of Revelstoke. Kim’s son; Tyler (Bailey) Duthie of Sicamous and his children Camden and Rowan; Kim’s son Thomas Robertson of Revelstoke; Kim’s daughter Sara (Tim) Duthie of Kamloops and Kim’s son David Duthie of Revelstoke. Louise is also survived by her daughter Cheryl (Russ) Robertson of Edmonton; Cheryl’s child Francine Allen of Revelstoke and daughter Luna; Cheryl’s son Michael of Delta and his son Quinton and Cheryl’s children Tanner and Jessica of Courtney. Louise leaves behind her late son Michael’s daughters Hailey and Madison. She is also survived by her daughter Dawn Burling of Red Deer and Dawn’s daughter Meagan of Kelowna and her son Derek (Barb) Burling of Vernon and his son Devric of Newfoundland. Louise will be greatly missed by her many friends and family members.
Cremation arrangements are in the care of Brandon Bowers Funeral Home, Revelstoke.
