If you’re looking for things to keep you busy in the community this weekend, you’re in luck. Plenty is afoot in Revelstoke.
Friday – May 3
The Fridays for Future campaign continues from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm at Revelstoke City Hall (216 Mackenzie Ave.) Join Revelstoke youth and adult allies in making a placard for the May 24th event, and contribute to the conversation on local, national, and global climate change mitigation.
The Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre will be hosting the opening reception for their newest art exhibitions. In the main gallery we have Lesley Mayfield – ‘Beings and Energy.’ Side Galleries include: Gabrielle Clarke – ‘The Soft, the Small and the Sensitive,’ Fierce Art Project – ‘My Creative Space,’ Golden Girls – ‘Current Works.’ The show runs from May 3 – 24 2019. The gallery is open from 12 – 4 PM, Tuesday to Saturday during exhibitions. Admission is by donation. Snacks & Refreshments available
Saturday May 4
The annual Spring Block Party, hosted by the Revelstoke Chamber of Commerce in the downtown core. The official page for the event notes ‘the streets will be filled with fun activities, local vendors, street markets and much much more.’ The event starts at 9 am.
The Art Bark, a silent auction held at Jacobson Ford. Entry is by donation, and there will be a selection of amazing local art to big on, as well raffles and refreshments (including beer and wine.) All proceeds will go to the Revelstoke and District Humane Society. The event runs from 3 pm- 7pm.
Sunday May 5
The Revelstoke Credit Union Family Fun Run. The event runs from 9:30 am until 12:30 pm at Queen Elizabeth Park. There will be family fun in the park with plenty of great prizes. Cash prizes in 16 categories in 2K, 5K, & 10K races. Details and registration can be found here.
The 4th annual Women’s Mega Clothing Swap. This popular event is held at the Revelstoke Community Centre. There is an optional early clothing from off from 10 am – 11 am. The event itself runs from noon until 3 pm. Shoppers without a donation pay a $10 entrance fee, those who bring clothing to swap pay $5. All clothing must be in wearable condition. All proceeds go to the Revelstoke Aquaducks.
