If you like adventure, exercise and an adrenaline rush, head on out SkyTrek Adventure Park on Saturday, June 8 2019, from 10am – 4pm. While any day is a fun day at Skytrek, on June 8, the local attraction, located 35 km west of Revelstoke, is hosting a much needed fundraiser for the Revelstoke, Malakwa and Sicamous Food Banks.
The fundraiser serves the dual purpose of both inviting locals who have yet to visit SkyTrek the chance to do so while giving to an important community group.
“The food banks gets many donations around Christmas time, but gets forgotten by many in summer time,” says SkyTrek Director of Operations Veronika Stevenson. “Preferred food donations include tuna, salmon, and other meats, pasta and sauces, healthy breakfast cereals, chunky soups, canned vegetables and fruits, canned or powdered milk, coffee, brown beans, snacks for kids, and peanut butter.”
Rather than be charged admission, donations (monetary or non perishable food or both) to the food banks will be taken instead. Every visitor is welcome to try each activity one time.
Activities include – sky course; a tree to tree ropes/zipline course, the adventure tower; a tower boasting six activities that range from climbing walls to swings, Kids Adventure Course; a 30-50 minute course for kids, The Kids Jungle Gym; a fully enclosed kids free play adventure, and Sky Climb; a challenging tree climb.
Stevenson is unsure about how many locals from the three communities are planning on coming in, and to ensure smooth operations the day of, reservations are required.
“The event is for SkyTrek activities only,” she explains. “Reservations are required, as is proof of residency. It is important to us to cooperate with locals and hope to make them proud of what Revelstoke has to offer and all the amazing activities they can take their visiting friends and family to.We are very excited to host this event!”
